Caucasian at Lebowski Bar
“Careful, man! There’s a beverage here!”
Jeff Bridges in the Coen brother’s film, The Big Lebowski, immortalized Jeffrey “The Dude” Lebowski’s drink of choice, the “Caucasian” which he drank a total of nine times throughout the cult favorite.
Now, thanks to the Lebowski Bar in Reykjavik, everyone can be part of The Dude’s world with four separate interior themes- a bowling alley, a southern-style porch, a 50’s diner, and a playboy lounge. Opening in 2012, the Lebowski Bar has become a favorite late-night stop for tourists who want to emerge themselves in all things “Lebowski” and sample the now-famous White Russian cocktails.
The Dude’s drink of choice is the classic mix of vodka, Kahlua, and some form of milk, utilizing either Half and Half and/or non-dairy powdered creamer, but at the Lebowski Bar, they offer more than 20+ variations ranging from the Caucasian, which is the closest to what The Dude drank to the Cocaucasian, a White Russian topped with Cocoa Puffs.
When in Iceland…whether you are a Lebowski film fan or not, the Lebowski bar is worth a late-night last stop to try one of their many versions of a White Russians. Think of it is as dessert or breakfast, depending on which White Russian you go with.
