Set in the 13th arrondissement in a neoclassical building, the C.O.Q. Hotel Paris is conveniently located for exploring the south side of Paris and has easy access to the Aeroport de Paris-Orly.I choose this hotel via Tablet Hotels for the most part based on location since I had a series of meetings near Orly and I didn’t want to stay in the standard, big-box airport hotel- friends don’t let friends stay in airport hotels.

The C, O, and Q. officially stands for “Community of Quality,” and not the Gallic roster or Coq, which is one of the national emblems of France. Hence, the hotel was designed for its ground floor to embody many aspects of communal living as found in a family home with the living room and winter garden offering a place to socialize, listen to music, browse through a coffee table book, enjoy a glass of wine or even a plate of charcuterie. The atmosphere is sophisticated, but relaxed and encourages guests to not just sleep in their room, but spend time living and building relationships with those around them.

“We thought if one of the hosts came down in slippers or took a nap in the Winter Garden, we would have won our bet a little. And the two things really happened!”
Delphine Sauvaget- interior designer

Designed by Pauline D’Hoop and Delphine Sauvaget, the hotel with its 50+ rooms feels like a design-centric, boutique hotel, but with the cozy, comforts of home, that are typically found at a B&B.The rooms are painted in dark tones of blue, green, and gray and feature a combination of custom furniture, mirrors, and lights specially designed for the hotel and eclectic antiques procured from Paris flea markets, such as vintage portraits in antique frames. The result is an elegant atmosphere of warmth, style, and charm where you feel at home and want to stay for a while.
COQ hotel might be a little way from the center of Paris, but it is an easy walk to the nearest Metro and railway stations, which offer you a quick 5km ride into the heart of Paris. The rooms are very reasonably priced for Paris, which will give you more money to spend elsewhere on food, wine. and shopping.
